Raspberry Pi - Zero

Today Raspberry Shockingly announces it's $5 computer. Well before we get ahead of our selves I'll clarify my statement- Raspberry Pi announces it's newest model- Zero which is of course a board. What's special about it you ask?, It's much smaller than any other board released before, it's a 65mm x 30mm in height and width and it's only 6mm tall... Isn't that something?

Back in the days they used to  play computer programs on radio so you could record int in a cassette and play back in your computer then we used to get CDs with magazines. and now they are distributing computers with magazines. Yes, the Zero is distributed with a Pi Magazine which you can purchase from their store.

Zero is made of:
  1. HDMI mini - for video out-puts.
  2. Two USB micro ports - one is used to power the board, you can use the other one  for supporting    USB's.
  3. A Micro-SD card slot.
Raspberry Pi - Zero

Let's talk about performance, since that's our mantra - 'smaller, cheaper, faster'. Zero operates at 1GHz with a 512 MB RAM. Even though this little tiger uses the same processor as the earlier model - Raspberry Pi - B the clock speed in this fellow is bumped up to hit 1Ghz. While i was reading about it and was thinking it was too good to be true, i was proven to be right. Zero still does not have multi core processing in it, which is promised for the second version. Well I'd say that should be just fine.

Here are some applications you can run for under 512MB RAM:
  1. Windows XP -  256MB
  2. half life 1&2
  3. counter strike 1.6 and condition zero
  4. freelancer
  5. devil may cry
  6. prince of Persia sands of time/two thrones/warrior within.
  7. Linux distributions.

These are just some of the few games you can use with 512MB RAM or lesser.

SEO - What is Search Engine Optimization(SEO) ?

There are a mainly two ways to bring you website to the top of the search results when searched by the keywords. One ways is by paying the search engine a sum of money for them to show your website on the top. This is called the paid search ads. The image below shows how the paid ads appear when you enter a search term

Paid search ads

The area marked by a red outline is the paid ads section for google. This differs from search engine to search engine, but it’s prominent and stands out from the non- paid search results that are on the left side in the image above. Let’s be honest, how many of us click on the paid search ads? Search Engine Optimization techniques concentrate on the left side results – the organic results, on how to bring your website to the top.

SEO - “Search Engine Optimization.” It is the process of gaining traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines.

This brings your website to the top of the search results in a search engine when searched for something. This is usually achieved by including search engine friendly elements into a website. There are two basic types of search engine optimizations on-page optimization and off-page optimization. On-page optimization elements included in the webpage such as HTML code, the content included in the website, images and etc. Off-page optimization concentrates one back linking – where other sites would lead to your website using links shared in their websites.

Magic Leap - An Augmented Reality Start-up

Magic Leap is a start up that's attracting everyone's attention with unrealistic videos that is been making it's rounds Facebook and other social media.

Even though the videos are eye-popping and catchy, the question still remains in the head,"if at all this was possible, how long would it take for it to be developed and released?".

The Magic Leap team is advised by Jon Hirschtick (founder of Onshape). With all the hype Onshape created it's only fair to assume that Magic Leap will not be any different. But in my personal opinion I think it's too early to assume anything. The company is throwing out unsubstantiated quotes about dangers with VR tech, they make wild promises about their own AR tech, and even wilder videos claiming their tech can achieve miracles. Until they release a product it's all just a hype and will be considered nothing more than mere marketing stunt.

We know for a fact that it should not take longer since they have already started showing off what they are planning to do. We have seen what happens to over hyped products that took longer for development and release, Oculus is one good example. Let's wait and see if it will be just another over hyped product or door to a totally different world.
